Relay Success
This past weekend was the 2007 Relay for Life--we've been preparing for months and it finally happened. We had perfect weather and tons of fun. The theme this year was Nascar style, "Racing for a Cure". Mom was on the committee this year in charge of all Relay activities, so I've been helping her for months come up with fun things to do. There were no injuries and everyone seemed to have lots of fun, Mom's 2 goals for the event. We had a bounce house, 3 legged races, motorized car races, bingo, pj contests, dance contests, bubblegum blowing contests, tug of war, volleyball, soccer, poker, and even an American Idol competition. American Idol was probably the most successful--we even had Ryan Secrest, Paula, Simon and Randy. Aunt Laura came in for the big event and played Paula--she was definitely the funniest judge. Mom embarrassed us all by starting off the songfest with "I Will Survive". After that, we had so many people sign up, we had to close down the Idol registration. It will surely be something we continue next year. Dad was a huge help at Relay with his big muscles. He helped us set up the tent and volley ball net and got all the motorized cars working (he seemed to have more fun with these than the kids!). Since it was an all night event, Dad came home with me around 9pm, and then after Idol, Aunt Laura came home so Dad could go back to run the midnight poker tournament. I don't think those guys and girls knew what they were signing up for--Dad won almost every match--he's quite the card shark! To top it all off, Mom's team, the Hot Rod Mommas won the campsite contest, something that the City of Coppell wins every year. The city was quite surprised and said they were coming back next year with a vengeance. Despite the lack of sleep, it was really an awesome weekend, raising almost $90,000 towards cancer research. Here are some pictures, although Relay for Life could never be described through photos or words--it has to be experienced. PS I've also included some photos from my most recent zoo trip with my buddies and some naked flower pics (Mom lets me run around naked in the front yard after we swim in the spa!)
