The 2008 Tree

Every year, our family loads up in Dad's old Explorer and heads outside of town to a Christmas tree farm. Sure, you can find a good looking tree at Home Depot or Wal-Mart, but none of these retail establishments will drive you around on the back of a trailer filled with saws and the promise of finding the PERFECT tree! This year, for the first time Dad let ME handle the saw! I did require a small amount of help from Dad, but I was able to make the first cut. The final task of a tree farm experience is the tie down. When you're planning on traveling upwards of 65 mph on Loop 610 in Houston, the tree needs to be very secure! One of the tree farm employees gave us some assistance, and we were able to make it home with only a small amount of shifting . . . although we did notice that other cars on the road gave us a very wide berth.
